Hitting the Road: The Vegatise Spark
Vegatise is where my co-founder journey kicked into high gear! It’s an out-of-home advertising company based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with a cool twist: we specialize in car advertising. Drivers earn passive income by getting a stylish wrap on their car and just driving like they normally do. We connect these drivers with brands eager to get their message seen on the move. I was involved in everything – from web development and app design to dashboard design, digital marketing, business strategy, branding, graphic design, and motion graphics!
The Big Detour: Navigating the Challenges
Launching Vegatise came with its own set of roadblocks. The vision was to create a seamless platform for brands and drivers, but the execution had some "frustrating parts," especially the app! Key challenges included:
- Trilingual App Development: This was a big one. Catering to a Sri Lankan audience meant designing and developing an application that worked flawlessly in three languages.
- Brand Building from Scratch: Creating a strong brand identity, including a logo and comprehensive brand guidelines, that would appeal to both modern brands and everyday drivers.
- Engaging Content Creation: Making social media posters and video content that cut through the noise – this was "really, really tough" but so important.
- Dual-Audience Website: Designing a simple, effective website where brands could easily connect with us, and drivers could sign up without a fuss. For this, I had the help of Abdullah to bring the website vision to life.
- Dashboard Design: Conceptualizing dashboards for brands to track analytics (impressions, reach) and for drivers to manage their earnings.
Who's Riding With Us? Strategy & Audience
Our strategy was to create a win-win. Brands get a unique, mobile way to advertise and track their impact. Drivers get to earn extra cash just by doing their daily commute. Our target audiences were:
- Brands: Businesses of all sizes looking for innovative OOH advertising solutions with measurable ROI.
- Drivers: Car owners wanting to make a passive income without changing their driving habits.
The website needed to clearly communicate value to both, while the app focused on the driver's experience and the dashboard on the brand's analytical needs.
Designing the Drive: Brand, App, Web & Dashboards
Building the Vegatise brand involved creating a visual identity that felt modern, trustworthy, and dynamic. This extended from the logo to all our digital assets.
The app design, especially making it trilingual, was a complex
puzzle but essential for our local market. We aimed for an
intuitive experience for drivers. The website, developed with
Abdullah's assistance, focused on simplicity and clear calls
to action for both brands and potential drivers. We also
mapped out dashboard designs to provide valuable analytics
like impression counts and other key metrics.

Getting Seen: Content That Connects
This part was a serious hustle! Creating social media posters
and video content that really captured the Vegatise vibe and
explained our unique service was "really, really tough." We
focused on clear messaging, eye-catching graphics (and motion
graphics!), and showcasing the benefits for both brands and
drivers. Our Instagram presence was key to building initial
awareness and engagement.

The Vegatise Journey: Impact & The Road Ahead
Vegatise is more than just an ad platform; it's a new way for brands to connect with audiences and for drivers to benefit from their daily routines. As a co-founder, this project has been an incredible learning curve, pushing my skills in design, development, marketing, and business strategy. We aimed to provide a high-obstacle (I believe you meant high-value or highly accessible, I've interpreted as impactful) yet simple website presence through our info and blogs page initially.
The journey of building Vegatise, especially tackling the trilingual app and crafting a unique brand voice, has been a testament to perseverance and creative problem-solving.
